Tour Itinerary Option - Bromo - Ijen - Meru Betiri or Alas Purwo National Park - Borobudur

Mount Bromo

Well, both Mt. Bromo and Ijen Crater located in East Java, Bromo situated around 3 hours drive from Surabaya to the east, definetly in Probolinggo regency, while Ijen crater situated around 3.5 hours drive from Bromo to the east, definetly in Bondowoso regency, you only need 3 days 2 nights to visit those attraction. But Borobudur situated in Central Java or around 9 hours drive from Surabaya to the west, if your arrival is in Surabaya, this will take a different direction to visit those all attractions and off course will takes much longer tour duration. You will need at least 6 days to visit Ijen Crater, Bromo and Borobudur if you want ideal tour arrangement. If you don’t, we strongly recommend you to visit many interesting atttraction around East Java in addition to Ijen Crater and Mount Bromo.

Ijen Crater

As you’ve mentioned in your previous email, we do not want to take you to temples, but if you like an adventure and wild activities we can take you to Meru Betiri National to visit Sukamade turtles beach to see how the turtles lying its eggs in the night on the beach, coffee plantation, and to watch wild animals in its natural habitate and the green bay with its clear crystal water and white sands, or we can take you to Alas Purwo National Park to visit many interesting spots inside the National park, visit Ngagelan beach for turtles conservation,  visit Istana cave, enjoy the fresh orange at local farm land and many other interesting spots. But we can not find 3 or 4 star hotel in both of above attractions. Talking about the accommodation you’ll find only in Bromo for the 3 star hotel accommodation while in Ijen crater we can only find standard hotel, in Meru Betiri National Park we can only get guest house accommodation provide by the management of the National Park, and in Alas Purwo National Park we can only get home stay accommodation provide by local peoples.

To visit those all attraction is good in the dry season around June to November, but I recommend you to start the tour between July or August, this is the best season. Below I will give you the summary of itineraries assuming that you choose another one of mentioned above attractions in addition to Bromo and Ijen crater.

Sukamade Turtles Beach - Meru Betiri 

ITINERARY – Option one, Meru Betiri National Park as additional attraction

Day 1 – Arrival

-          I hope you came in the morning, and we will directly drive to Ijen, takes around 6 hours drive from Surabaya to the east.

-          Check in hotel at the foot of Mt. Ijen, rest.

Day 2 – Explore Ijen and Meru Betiri National Park

-          Explore Ijen to enjoy the blue fire phenomena start in 12 pm in the midnight, finish around 8 am in the morning.

-          Drive to Meru Betiri National Park using 4WD vehicle, arrive around 3 am.

-          Explore Sukamade beach to find the turtles lying their eggs in the night.

-          Overnight in guest house provided by the National Park

Day 3 – Explore Meru Betiri National Park

-          Releasing the turtles babies to the ocean.

-          Drive to Bromo, we will arrive at Bromo around 9 pm, check in hotel and rest.

Day 4 – Explore Bromo

-          Bromo tour start on 2 am early morning to visit Penanjakan sunrise view point, trekking to the crater of Mt. Bromo, Savanna of Bromo and the whispering sands, finish around 10 am.

-          Visit Madakaripura waterfall in the foot of Mt. Bromo.

-          Back to Surabaya, arrive at Surabaya around 7 pm.

-          Tour ends.

Bedul Beach - Alas Purwo

ITINERARY – Option two, Alas Purwo national park as additional attraction

Day 1 – Arrival

-          Drive to Alas Purwo national park, takes around 7 hours from Surabaya to the east.

-          Overnight in home stay provided by locals

Day 2 – Explore Alas Purwo National Park part 1

-          Enjoy the fresh orange fruite in the fresh morning.

-          Visit Bedul beach and then cycling throughout tropical forest to Ngagelan beach turtle conservations, and back to Bedul beach on afternoon, cyling throughout the beach that connect both beachs while enjoying the moment of sunset.

-          Back to home stay and rest.

Day 3 – Explore Alas Purwo National Park part 2

-          Visit Pancur beach, Istana cave, Plengkung surfing beach and Sadengan the natural savanna of Alas Purwo national park.

-          Back to home stay break.

-          Drive to hotel at the foot of Mt. Ijen.

Day 4 – Explore Ijen

-          Explore Ijen to enjoy the blue fire phenomena start in 12 pm in the midnight, finish around 8 am in the morning.

-          Drive to Bromo, stop at Madakaripura waterfalls and enjoy this amazing waterfalls.

-          Check in hotel in Bromo and overnight.

Day 5 – Explore Bromo

-          Bromo tour start on 2 am early morning to visit Penanjakan sunrise view point, trekking to the crater of Mt. Bromo, Savanna of Bromo and the whispering sands, finish around 10 am.

-          Back to Surabaya, arrive in Surabaya around 4 pm.

-          Tour ends.

Borobudur

ITINERARY  - Option three, Borobudur as additional attraction

Day 1 – Arrival

-          I hope you came in the morning in Surabaya and we can directly drive to Borobudur at Central Java, takes around 9 hours drive.

-          Check in hotel in Yogyakarta, if we have enough time we can visit Malioboro night market.

-          Overnight in hotel.

Day 2 – Explore Borobudur

-          Visit Borobudur temple, finish in 12 am.

-          Drive to Bromo, takes approximately total 11-12 hours drives.

-          Arrive at Bromo, and break.

Day 3 – Explore Bromo

-          Bromo tour start on 2 am early morning to visit Penanjakan sunrise view point, trekking to the crater of Mt. Bromo, Savanna of Bromo and the whispering sands, finish around 10 am.

-          Drive to Ijen crater, takes approximately 4 hours from Bromo

-          Check in hotel and rest.

Day 4 – Explore Ijen

-          Explore Ijen to enjoy the blue fire phenomena start in 12 pm in the midnight, finish around 8 am in the morning.

-          Back to Surabaya, arrive in Surabaya around 3 pm.

-          Tour ends.
